Engagé dans l'Armée de Réserve le 7 juillet 1943, il débute son ebtraînement de pilote en tant que Cadet le 23 mai 1944 et obtient eses ailes ainsi que ses galons de Sous-Lieutenant le 26 janvier 1945. Promu Lieutenant le 8 décembre 1945, il quitte le service actif le 13 novembre 1946 avant d'intégrer l'Air Force en qualité d'Officier de carrière le 10 octobre 1947. Promu Capitaine le 16 janvier 1951, il participe à la guerre de Corée au sein du 335th FIS / 4 FIW et remporte 5 victoires en combat aérien qui font de lui le 13eme As en date du 3 mai 1952. Il quitte la Corée en octobre 1951 avec 721 heures de vol à son actif.

Le 20 avril 1956, il se tue accidentellement à bord d'un T-33 près de la base de Boca del Rio au Vénézuéla.
